You’d like to think not, but in 158 years of statehood, Kansas has elected only three Democrats as Senators. The last one was in 1932.

lawhawk  Nov 19, 2019 • 5:34:52pm

The GOP don’t have the facts, the law, or logic and reasoning on their side, so they’re left with the Chewbaca defense, and even that they’re failing at.

Why? Because even they don’t believe the baffling bulkshit they’re spewing. They know that they only have to keep convincing Trump? Let’s Devil’s Advocate this out:

Wait. What? Everything here is for an audience of one? Well, that’s why they keep using Trump’s favorite phrases. How else can you explain how incompetently they’re crossing the witnesses and pushing conspiracy theories instead of rehabilitating their so-called star witnesses. They aren’t exonerating Trump here with any of the testimony and evidence, they’re just finding even more wrongdoing.

If Trump and his idiot lawyers realize that there’s no hope with the actual evidence and that polling continues to show a majority demanding his removal at this early stage, that it’s not going to get any better for Trump and resignation is likely.

Cutting against all that is the fact that there aren’t GOPers in Congress demanding his impeachment and removal from office based on what we already know.

That’s the thing - when we get GOPers openly calling for impeachment and removal, that’s when the tide turns. Until then, it’ll be the GOP defending Trump at all costs. All the while, the nation demands his removal from office.

Schiff’s decision to add extra time strikes me as tactically very smart. Not only weren’t the Republican members prepared for it, but by extending the hearing and contentious close to 5:30 Pacific time a lot of people were able to get home after work and watch.

The Gears Are Springing Loose on the Trumpmobile
The House is now investigating whether the president lied to Robert Mueller’s team about Wikileaks—and that’s just one thing dogging him.
by Charlie Pierce

If the president* lied to Mueller’s people, that’s the entire ballgame. Couple that with the obvious campaign of extortion surrounding the Ukraine enterprise, and the campaign of deception deployed to cover it up, and you’ve squared the circle. The president*’s people are caught, and therefore, he is. The president* will have nothing to offer anybody even if he wanted to do so, which I don’t think he does. Everybody will be running for the ratlines and, frankly, I don’t think the president* has the speed to catch up.

re: #129 Romantic Heretic

They see nothing wrong with it.

As long as it is a republican president* doing it. Now .. if Obama did any of this …

Family members are in the Presidential Prayer Team, praying for people to rise up against Democrats…yet another reason Christianity makes me sick to my stomach…

Do you have specific information from that outfit saying this? I’m thinking about their tax exemption.

Trump does give a flying fuck about corruption. As long as he’s cut in on the action.

Nearly every “western” country views lgbt people more progressively than FNC does. Plus LGBT people and their family are consumers too. Being homophobic dipshits isn’t a good business model but go ahead cry because you can’t get homophobia with your high cholesterol anymore.

I didn’t realize that Lt. Col. Vindman was Jewish and his family was part of the many Soviet Jews who sought to leave the USSR in the 1970s. Those of us who were alive at the time remember the plight of the refuseniks, they couldn’t get visas, couldn’t hold jobs, couldn’t continue their educations as they were harassed by the apparatus of the Soviet state.

Here’s an article with background: washingtonpost.com

I have ripped my (R) congressman a new asshole over the fact that Vindman and his family need 24 hour protection from Trump’s stochastic terrorism goons. He (Andy Biggs) talks about how he’s doing things for veterans. Fuck him. Every time he posts, I’m going to post about how Lt. Col. Vindman is under 24 hour protection because of people like him. Fuck him.

Back when my employer was merely a superregional bank mostly located on the western side of the Mississippi, we bought up a handful of banks in Colorado, including Colorado Springs. The accounts at this branch included ones for Focus on the Fetus Family, at the time being led by James Dobson. Well, they got very unhappy about the fact that the evil too big to fail bank gave money to LGBTQ causes. They were so angry and so huffy that they moved their accounts to a gay-hating bank located in Nebraska. I remember our PR person told Focus pretty much “Sorry to lose your business, don’t let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya.”

It’s bad business to be anti-LGBTQ. The only reason Chick-Fil-A (and Hobby Lobby) gets away with this crap is because it’s privately held and they don’t have to answer to stockholders.

My confession: I usually get my fast food chicken from Brown’s. And, very rarely, a chicken sandwich from Subway. Does either of these organizations have any position on gay rights? Or is their only interest in selling fast food?
