NBC says not so much

the group fueling Biden’s polling surge is seniors and white voters with college degrees.

Biden is clobbering Trump 58 percent to 37 percent among whites with college degrees, more than double Clinton’s 51 percent to 42 percent

Biden has reversed Trump’s 2016 lead among voters age 65 and older. In 2016, Trump carried seniors 56 percent to 41 percent, according to the CCES data. But Biden, who carried seniors overwhelmingly in the Democratic primaries, leads Trump 50 percent to 45 percent

In two killings separated by nearly 3,000 miles, a gunman came dressed as a deliveryman. The individual at the doorstep claimed to be dropping off a package but instead unleashed a hail of bullets.

On Wednesday, the FBI said it had now linked the two slayings to one man.

Roy Den Hollander, 72, a self-described anti-feminist attorney, is suspected in the killing of a well-known men’s rights attorney in the mountains of San Bernardino County earlier this month and the shooting on Sunday of a federal judge’s son and husband in New Jersey

Derek Chauvin and his wife, Kellie, did not file income tax returns in the state for some years and underreported income for others, according to court records

Trump also did have a chance to make one of his superlative declarations. A reporter had asked him about Joe Biden’s comment from earlier in the day, in which he said that Trump was the first racist to get elected president.

After talking about employment, opportunity zones and criminal justice reform, Trump responded, “I’ve said this and I say it openly, and not a lot of people dispute it, I have done more for Black Americans that anybody with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln. Nobody has even been close.”

- a lot of people dispute it
- racist does not just mean anti black (except in your pea sized head)
- I wonder how Hispanics feel, or Muslims, Asians, etc

I don’t know if I can remain a customer. I guess I could go to the Sun-Times, but it is a tabloid that is just not as good of an overall product in my experience.

This is not really any more tethered to reality than the “Q” stuff that got banned all over fucking TWITTER, yet the Chicago Tribune put it on page 2. Unreal.

When an old guy rambles on about a single question on a test… you know he’s close to being at the end of his independence.

Cognitive decline is a real thing (noticeable for those of us who have watched older relatives.)

Biden hasn’t shown a great decline, though he’s not going to be as sharp as he was 30 years ago.

Trump has never shown great mental acuity during his public political era. Now, he’s one of those old guys who can only fixate and not juggle more than one item.

People aren’t not working because they get paid more on unemployment.

People aren’t working because there’s a goddamn pandemic and the #1 way to get it is to be inside a building with a bunch of other people.

They think that they can just fucking skate and bluff and lie their way thru it all, without recognizing that we have Moms performing non-violent protest in the street and their party’s figurehead is sending in paramilitary goons to shoot them with tear gas and start arresting/abducting people with zero regard to the rule of law.

They’re baiting the bear.
They’ve been doing this for years.
Every time the bear snarls, they say, “Be nicey-nicey to get what you want! Angry is BAD!”
They say this, knowing they have no intention to stop teasing the bear.
And every intention of making the bear miserable for the rest of its days.
One day, the chains snap on the bear.
“Oh no!! Don’t maul us, Mr. Bear, you’ll just play into our hands!”

Too late for that by far. That bear is going to do damage. And it’s all on the Republicans.

A Black teen working at a Washington state Lowe’s was forced to change clothes when a customer interpreted his “Black Panther Wakanda Forever” shirt as racist, according to KIRO 7. Kyle Sales told the television station his supervisor pulled him aside last weekend and gave him two options: either buy a new shirt or go home and change. “This is from a movie. How is this racist?” he asked.

Still, Sales chose to go home to grab a jersey to throw on over his shirt. “I was very angry. It just did not seem fair in light of all of the things that are happening in our in the world right now,” Sales told KIRO 7. “This isn’t racist. I shouldn’t be punished for a t-shirt from a movie.” The incident happened in Bonney Lake, which is about 40 miles south of Seattle, and the woman’s complaint didn’t end when Sales went home to change.

A friend told Sales the woman later returned to make sure he had been punished. “She came in throwing a fit saying, ‘what happened to that kid - What was his punishment?’” Sales said. Lowe’s spokesperson Sebastian Hale released a statement to KIRO 7 explaining that the teen wouldn’t be punished. “Mr. Sales should never have been asked to change his shirt, and we have apologized to him directly,” Hale said in the statement. “We know this is a teachable moment, and we will take action to coach and train the managers at the store to help prevent this from happening again. Diversity and inclusion are important to our culture at Lowe’s, and we remain committed to fostering an environment where all individuals are safe, treated fairly, valued and respected.”

President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr announced that 35 federal agents and additional resources will be coming to Albuquerque as part of the expansion of Operation Legend in a handful of cities across the United States.

At a news conference in the White House on Wednesday, President Trump said the influx will be in cities where the leadership wants to “defund, defame or abolish” police.

“Under Operation Legend we will soon send fed law enforcement to other cities that need help,” Trump said. “Other cities need help, they need it badly. They should call, they should want it. They’re too proud or they’re too political to do that. One of them is Albuquerque, New Mexico.”

New Mexico has sued the New Mexico Civil Guard and 14 of its members in state court, claiming the militia group helped incite a shooting at a peaceful protest in June.

Protesters gathered in front of the Albuquerque Museum on June 15 to protest the sculpture La Jornada, which includes a statue of 16th century Spanish conquistador Juan de Oñate. Oñate, founder of the Spanish colony of New Mexico, was also responsible for the 1599 Acoma Massacre, a punitive expedition at Acoma Pueblo that killed around 500 Acoma men and 300 women and children. courthousenews.com

It seems that Albequerque has a sheriff that is trying to get Trump to send goons:

Sheriff Gonzales is being slammed by several local officials ahead of his visit to the White House to meet with Trump. A news release from the BCSO said the meeting was to discuss the sheriff’s office “success combating Albuquerque’s crime crisis” as part of a joint operation.

But Sen. Heinrich blasted Gonzales, tying his visit to the Portland events. He called for Gonzales to resign, saying he doesn’t represent Bernalillo County, and needs to step aside to “make room for someone who will make maintaining the peace and promoting the safety and protection” of residents a top priority.

“Instead of collaborating with the Albuquerque Police Department, the Sheriff is inviting the President’s stormtroopers into Albuquerque,” Heinrich wrote in a statement.

“I have, like, a good memory. Because I’m cognitively there,” Trump said.

(From the Fox interview where he couldn’t stop talking about his cognitive test)

we recognized this here, yesterday

President Trump’s explanation to Fox News of why he took a mental acuity test is definitely worth watching.

Washington Post: “Medical and public health experts stress that the cognitive exam is not what Trump seems to think it is — an indicator of IQ or a cudgel to be wielded against a political opponent like a debate challenge.”

“Experts say the president’s fixation on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment is particularly puzzling because the test is normally administered only if someone is concerned that they or their loved ones may be experiencing dementia or other cognitive decline. Getting a perfect score — as Trump has repeatedly claimed he did — merely signifies that the test-taker probably does not have a cognitive impairment as measured by the exam.”

As a resident of Arizona, I have a personal interest in this. My mom is 80 years old, has diabetes and heart and lung problems, in addition to being legally blind and hard of hearing. Based on the standards as they were issued a few weeks back, if the hospitals became full up, they’d stop her care first. *scowl*

Speaking of mom, my brother told me she woke up shrieking this afternoon, grasping for words, trying to say something. After she was more awake, she was able to tell my brother that she had dreamed there was a tiger in the dining room. I told my brother that I wished I had vivid dreams like that. BTW, Mom is fine.

It’s a really tough question-how to ration healthcare. No one wants to have to do it, but if you need to, I think you need a plan. Honestly, while I’m 67 and in good health, I would be hard pressed to make the case I should get precedence over a 12 year old with a whole life ahead.

What a shock.
I wonder if anyone is considering having workers in such places near the head of the line for vaccines? Along with first responders, people in congregate living situations (you know, like prison inmates) and so forth.

I imagine I’m well down the list somewhere, which is OK, because I’ll benefit from the reduction in Covid prevalence and don’t have to go too many places anyway. On the other hand, all those idiots that think they’ll be nano-chipped so they won’t get the vaccine should shorten the line ahead of me.

Ruger LCP. Small .380 ACP pistol designed for concealed carry and really only good at bad breath ranges. They’re very popular with people who want a pistol and don’t plan to shoot it much if ever because they aren’t very fun to shoot but they will fit into your pants pocket.

Frankly given all the thugs out there in camo pretending to be cops, every protester in the country should be armed for when they start killing.

I’m a Brother but the idea of a general strike will never fly in America. Too many people still believe the fantasy that they can get rich if they work hard. Combine that with the fear people have for losing their jobs with high unemployment and it’s a non-starter much as I’d wish otherwise.
