BREAKING: Bill Barr Bails

Politics • Views: 23,706

Yeah, he was fired the minute he refused to co-sign Trump’s “voter fraud” con game.

The Trump-thing hath tweeted.

With five weeks left in his rotten, corrupt administration the Attorney General “resigns.” Just another normal day in the shitshow.

Senate Majority Whip John Thune said that Joe Biden is President-elect once he crosses 270 electoral votes and says efforts to challenge the results in Congress are “not going anywhere.” He said “it’s time for everybody to move on” after today.

Hopefully this means no Senator will co-sign the House GOP shenanigans to challenge electors on the 6th.

These profiles in courage (*cough*) are happening because, if one looks at the typical social media outlet, the Trumper base is still in denial.

So any Republican who challenges that absurd belief that Trump will be President come 22 Jan will be labeled as Satan.

This county has a rather large fraction of the electorate who are mentally compromised.

I’m pretty sure that Rand Paul will. Or Johnson. Or Graham. They have to show Trump just how loyal they are to him.

But why at that point?

Paul and Cruz probably want to run for president again. There’s no upside for Johnson, considering he has to seek re-election in Wisconsin. And Butters is probably already looking for his new Cartman (plus he doesn’t have to worry about voters for 6 years, if ever again).

I can’t even find an entirely cynical self-serving reason for any of them to continue this game.

Republican elected officials know that their base is thoroughly Trumpist. In nearly all cases, the only threat to their staying in office is being primaried from the right for any deviation (real or imaginary) from Trumpist dogma (whatever that shit happens to be at the moment).

So there will be no profiles in courage from GOP elected officials.

The impression I have from a few weeks ago is that Republicans did well enough downticket that the 2020 redistricting will further entrench their undeserved hold on power.

There’s also the question of how badly Trump’s tools fucked up the census results.

If you’re looking for monsters, you won’t find them at youcaring.com or any of the other crowdfunding sites that are rising to fill the ever-widening cracks in the American health care system. It’s just that the marketplace of compassion, which is what crowdfunding sites amount to, produces winners and losers like any other marketplace. Why would I assume that someone who introduces himself as “Dr. Smith” is AUTOMATICALLY a medical doctor??

There are all kinds of doctors out there.

The circles I run in, I’d be more likely to assume that he or she is NOT a medical doctor. I know more Ph.D.’s than MD’s.

No. The real electors might have been set aside, but then those electoral votes would not have counted toward the total at all. No alternate set of electors passed the Constitutionally mandated requirements to be considered by the Congress. Trust the system - it managed to learn from 1876, at least.

Right wing lunatics goalpost moving.

Trump insists he won by landslide in 2016, when there was sufficient reason to believe that foreign interference and voter suppression led to a massive loss in the popular vote and an obscene result with the EC. Hillary conceded within days. She didn’t fight any of it.

She lost with a grace not a single GOPer could abide with.

Then, in 2020, Trump lost in massive and overwhelming fashion as a total repudiation of his disastrous admin. But he spent every day since November 3 fighting and lying about how he won, fraud cost him the election with no evidence, and sued in every court he could find claiming he won. He then proceeded to lose every single case save one, lost at every level of court - state and federal - and his base still lied and believed in the lie. They threatened armed insurrection and violence and threatened those who counted the ballots and certified the counts.

The GOP are irredeemable.

Biden is spiritual. He doesn’t go to church because it’s a performance. He goes because he feels it.

That’s unlike Trump who would start a riot to go take a photo op outside of a church, but who spends more time golfing than he does going to church. Trump cares only about his material wealth and power. That’s it. But right wingers and the GOP will continue to paint Democrats as anti-religion when the GOP are led by a bunch of thugs who would more likely burn books than read them (the Bible included).

Kobach is the lunatic who spent years trying to disenfranchise persons of color in Kansas and nationwide. Trump tapped him to show existence of voter fraud in 2016 and he failed to serve up a single example.

Kobach is also the lunatic who filed papers with one court that were so badly smacked down that the Judge in the case sanctioned Kobach and told him to take remedial law courses.

It’s no surprise that Kobach was eyeballs deep on the insane GOP suits that were crushed by the courts.

re: #195 lawhawk

Kobach is the lunatic who spent years trying to disenfranchise persons of color in Kansas and nationwide. Trump tapped him to show existence of voter fraud in 2016 and he failed to serve up a single example.

Kobach is also the lunatic who filed papers with one court that were so badly smacked down that the Judge in the case sanctioned Kobach and told him to take remedial law courses.

It’s no surprise that Kobach was eyeballs deep on the insane GOP suits that were crushed by the courts.

Oh yes, I remember him veeeery clearly.

Twitter is so easy to be worked.

It’s what happens to any organization relies on Artificial Stupidity.

Not that Twitter doesn’t have lots of real stupid, but the artificial stupid makes it happen more efficiently. /

I’m sure Biden’s faith has been tested with all the personal tragedy he’s had to endure in his life, but I have no doubt whatsoever that his faith is real. You will never ever see him hold his bible upside down for a photo op outside of a church he’s never set foot in.

You won’t see him weaponize it. The funny thing is going to be watching the right lose their shit with a devout Catholic potus. I hope it exposes how narrow their interpretations of religious faith are.

Yeah, I’m retired RCC, unlike Biden, but I imagine he suffered through what Douglas Adams called “The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul” and came out the back with his Faith intact, perhaps stronger. Props to him.

What I especially respect is that there is a hard full-stop between his Faith and his Politics, as there should be. They are overlapping magisteria, but you damn well have to know the difference and where to draw the line.

Exactly.

I’ve been taking this chain of additional adjectives and simply been substituting “dwarfbread” for the word “scone”.

I have to clear my throat often. I get migraines. When they affect the nasal area, I get the WORST congestion! This happens at all times of the year, cold or hot, winter or summer. I sound just like Biden at times.

They’re gonna say he has the rona, though. Neither of us does, so far as I know, but Rush and the Q-nuts will say it anyway.

Dwarfbread would be in a whole different price category.

Snow White’s Locally Sourced Dwarfbread would set you back $25 per loaf.

Right.
The sort of President who will go golfing on Sunday after church.
Vs. the (thankfully soon-to-be-former) incumbent, who goes golfing instead of church….

I think it has more to do with the golfer’s character and integrity rather than the fact that they golf rather than churching.

Doesn’t really go with your conversation because the premise is different, but it reminded me of this joke:

A doctor and a lawyer were playing golf one Saturday morning when a funeral procession drove past the country club green they were putting on. The lawyer stopped setting up his approach, turned, took off his hat and bowed his head. The doctor said: “I was actually moved by your reverence for the dead.” And the lawyer said, “it’s the least I could do; we were married for 37 years.”

Or something like that. Sorry.
