I read about that! What they did was pretty remarkable, but they were looking at losing their fishing harbor if they didn’t do something drastic. The harbor (now) processes 1/3 of Iceland’s catch, so if that volcano were to light up again, they’d still be in trouble. At least with this eruption, it’s in a fairly deserted area, although they did lose a pre-Christian cemetery yesterday.
