Here’s a quote from the SD AG in a letter he wrote to the SD lawmakers before the impeachment vote:

Knowing Governor Noem could hand select my replacement, I felt it appropriate to stay in office to maintain the checks and balances within the state.

He’s not wrong. She will install a toady. However, he still should have resigned (and more).

FOX 17 crews watched as concrete barriers went into place on the sidewalk outside of police headquarters Tuesday.

The action comes 8 days after Lyoya was shot and killed near the intersection of Nelson Avenue and Griggs Street, and 4 days before a self-imposed deadline to release video of that shooting.

According to a department spokesperson, police do not anticipate any issues, but they are working with the city’s event staff to ensure any public events connected to Lyoya’s shooting is peaceful.

“The barricades are a precaution,” they told FOX 17. “In order for the police department to maintain the safety of the public throughout the city, the building, which also houses the Grand Rapids 911 dispatch center operations, must be secure.”

There have already been a number of demonstrations protesting the shooting of Lyoya.

Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom told FOX17 Lyoya ran from the officer, and then struggled with that officer when the officer caught up to him. Investigators say the officer shot Lyoya during the struggle.

However, Lyoya’s family has disputed that account. According to Lyoya’s father and the family’s interpreter, video they were shown of the shooting depicts the officer shooting Lyoya in the back of the head while lying face down on the ground.

hi

The US Flag in Nebraska is at half-staff today and tomorrow by order of Governor Pete Ricketts, after the Chief of the Elwood Fire Department was killed in an accident responding to a fire in Furnas County.

Miles of US-283 are closed due to a massive prairie fire which started Thursday. Several villages have been evacuated.

Tornado watches are in effect, as the temperature is in the nineties in Omaha, and in the forties in the Panhandle (it was snowing in Sidney when we were there an hour ago).

NE-71 is closed from Kimball to Scottsbluff due to an Air Force ammunition truck which crashed and caught fire, sparking a prairie fire west of us. The truck is carrying grenades and small arms ammunition, so the fire departments responding to that fire are staying well-clear of the truck.

Nope. That effect is strong in perhaps 20% of Americans. Biden won, and he took 35% of Alabama votes.

Paid my property taxes today, so I stopped by the county clerk to clear up the issue regarding applying to run for the legislature, and why wasn’t it caught that my state senator had two years to go (aside from the fact I should have known that myself).

In my county, to apply for office, you fill in a paper form (which I did last week when I filed for village board).

The county does not have Internet service (too expensive), so my form was mailed to the state Secretary of State. (This also happens when I renew my driver’s license.) The clerk said the SOS would have rejected the application, but she has not received it back yet. They should also return my money.

So my withdrawal doesn’t mean much, since I hadn’t been officially registered in the first place.

Oh.

Wonder if the lead will pan out.
Reminiscent of how they caught the WTC bombers in 1993 (they tried to claim back the deposit on the van they rented to blow up the building )…

My wife, who is of the demographic she’s talking about, saw the video and said “I’ll bet he was targeting Asians.” Stupid to speculate at this point, but her eye caught that many in those frames who were bleeding seemed to be Asian.

Mind bender: Julian Lennon is 59 years old (birthday last Friday).

John would be 81.

And Yoko is 89.

TL;DR, Jonathon Haidt blames Facebook adding a “like” button and Twitter adding its “retweet” function, along with Google Translate in 2011 “recreating the Tower of Babel.”

SOMEHOW, Herbie Hancock is 82 today. I would have sworn to any authority that he was 15 years younger than that.

The Russians are running low on effective ammunition.

There was probably no better time for the Chinese to invade Eastern Siberia and grab all that oil and minerals than now.]

Just saying.

I’ve been watching Volodomyr Zelensky on Netflix in his former role as the lead in Servant of the People. Really enjoy the theme music by Dmytro Shurov:

I love my country
Love my wife
Love my dog
I am a member of everything
Almost Superman
But rarely spoil for a fight.
Everyone knows
What I’m sentenced to—
“Servant of the people.”

I have almost everything
Dignity and honor
And even shouts of “Bravo.”
The people issued me
My personal airplane
And why not? I have the right.
On my belly—right here—
I’ll get a tattoo
“Servant of the people.”

I would be so okay with that. China claiming half of Siberia as independent territory and annexing it would fuck with Putin’s head big time.

Rachel Maddow just asked Mayor Adams if he thought the shooter was targeting Asians. The mayor pointed out the complex ethnic make up of Brooklyn and that that particular neighborhood just happened to be majority Asian.
