I was thinking that there seems to be two kinds of violence to worry about.
The first is Stochastic Violence/Terrorism.

The second is deliberate organized violence from groups like the 3%’ers/OathKeepers and the “Proud Boys”. Particularly when supported by security institutions like the police/sheriff/courts/military.

Musk is using weasel words like “can” to avoid making an explicit promise but this still seems like an area the FTC could and should step in to investigate. Let’s contrast what Musk is doing with the Costco Executive Membership, which costs double the base membership up front but comes with a 2% cash back on purchases up to $50K per a calendar year, so $1K cash back possible. So if you shop there a lot it’s easy to get back more than you paid on the membership. It’s all spelled out clearly, there’s no real room for the person buying the membership to misunderstand the terms.
