I wonder if Loose Cannon will realize that she could easily be Mike Penced even after carrying water for this crook.
I put up curtain barriers to keep my living room/ home office cooler. One is covering up the staircase and the other is blocking the dining room from the living room. It is working very well.

There’s book smart, and there’s life smart. (I am, myself, considerably smarter in the first than in the second). I’m not sure Cannon is particularly life smart…
In 1887, American lawyer and famed orator Robert G. Ingersoll sent a bottle of whiskey to his future son-in-law. He also sent him a letter explaining the whiskey’s many fine attributes - a letter so loved and shared by all who read it that it was soon printed in American newspaper The Nation. But when it was read by Rev. Dr. J. M. Buckley, editor of The Christian Advocate, he responded with a letter of his own.

re: #14 Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus
So I went to Wikipedia (that fount of all human ken) to read up on “who the hell is Rev. Dr. James Monroe Buckley?”
He was one of the wealthy grifting preachers of his day.
As a Methodist, he opposed women’s suffrage in his book “The Wrong and Peril of Women’s Suffrage,” women preaching in a church or participating in any way in church governance, attacked Rev. Anna Oliver’s ordination, and as a board member opposed every woman ordained from receiving certification to preach in the Methodist Episcopal Church.
In his attack on Rev. Oliver he said “I am opposed to inviting any woman to preach before this meeting. If the mother of our Lord [Mary] were on earth, I should oppose her preaching here.”
As he was such a firebrand, he was called in his day “The Captain of Conservatives.”

He expects places where “liberals” hang out will be attacked, like the Methodist church he attends. “I’m going to be staying away from there.”

This concerns me as well. And I hope that this crap is shut down and forced to crawl back under the rock it crawled out from.
I was thinking that there seems to be two kinds of violence to worry about.
The first is Stochastic Violence/Terrorism.
“the public demonization of a person or group resulting in the incitement of a violent act, which is statistically probable but whose specifics cannot be predicted”
The second is deliberate organized violence from groups like the 3%’ers/OathKeepers and the “Proud Boys”. Particularly when supported by security institutions like the police/sheriff/courts/military.
Both are threats to life, liberty, property, and civic discourse. I wonder how the response to the two differs for an individual citizen.

Superhero films/big-budget CGI extravaganzas will still be around, but the genre as whole is getting long in the tooth. Who knows? Maybe a new auteur age, like we saw in the early to mid 1970s, will emerge as the next big thing.
On that note, time to call it a day. Have a good one, Lizards and stay healthy.

re: #34 ckkatz
Musk is using weasel words like “can” to avoid making an explicit promise but this still seems like an area the FTC could and should step in to investigate. Let’s contrast what Musk is doing with the Costco Executive Membership, which costs double the base membership up front but comes with a 2% cash back on purchases up to $50K per a calendar year, so $1K cash back possible. So if you shop there a lot it’s easy to get back more than you paid on the membership. It’s all spelled out clearly, there’s no real room for the person buying the membership to misunderstand the terms. Musk’s scheme on the other hand is a magician’s top hat, there’s no way for the buyer to ever know or understand the deal because in actuality only the vague appearance of a promise has been made. They saw their money go in but they have no real concept of how the trick works or if anything but a turd emoji will come out.
This has to trigger an FTC investigation, right? It’s clear that Musk has handpicked a tiny number of accounts that he personally approves of to receive checks, and then trying to use those few payments as floating decoys to lure in flocks of fresh suckers. pic.twitter.com/gCxm7ORgAF
