the thing is… there are a LOT of people crossing over the border for any number of reasons, some economic, some political and some just because it’s safer in the US than where they were.

I get that the system is broken, but one of the primary reasons that its broken is that the GOP refuses to fix it. They just ‘want it to go away’ which is not attached to reality and they certainly don’t want these people to have the same rights and opportunities as themselves because…. reasons.

I fully believe that we have rooms and jobs for everyone, big cities and small towns. A lot of immigrant labor is already flowing into the trades and to be honest, they are doing work that other Americans find beneath them. There is a LOT of heavy lifting that remains to be done, being better about using solar and water and wind power. Being better about cleaning up after ourselves is a full time job as well it seems. Lots of these folks just want a chance to do the same that our parents and those before them had… live their lives in peace, love who they choose to love and see their kids thrive and maybe watch some TV and listen to some music, be entertained by performances and the arts and read a book.

What people have to get over is the idea that their way of life is over, yeah.. it is, and it happens every minute of every day. Somebody is always tinkering or discovering something and things change, it’s the nature of humanity. It doesn’t have to be for ill, maybe we’ll get to a place where we can treat each other with a bit of respect and understand that differences are just that… different… not better or worse, just different and it doesn’t affect the rest of us in the least.

really wonderful dream last night with my dad, who was coming through the screen door to the porch on the old house. Looked to be in his early 40’s. ‘I thought you were dead,” I said. Can’t really remember his reply, but we just hugged for a long while. Quite joyous, really.

I got two. I shut them off and ignored them when they happened. I was in a thrift store and lots of phones went off. I just looked at the messages, and what I think is the second one, is in Spanish. Then they self-deleted so I couldn’t check.
