Trump’s Tweet of May 3, 2018:

Since the judge just rejected Trump’s motion to exclude evidence on presidential immunity grounds, this tweet remains fair game for prosecutors for now. nycourts.gov

This is one of Trump’s tweets that his lawyers want to keep from a jury, on the theory of immunity that posting it was an “official act” of his presidency.
It’s a tweet apparently showing
Trump’s knowledge of the system of reimbursements at the center of his criminal charges.

I still don’t see how this tweet is any more damning than a lot of other things he said at the time as he was looking to obstruct justice and avoid scrutiny.

Gantz Proposes Elections in Israel in September; Netanyahu: Gov’t Will Continue Until War Goals Met

If Gantz takes his party out of the coalition government, it falls and there will be immediate elections. So Netanyahu insults him. And has his government, through the Energy Minister, also say “if the United States, our greatest friend which I value tremendously, doesn’t completely back Israel - it has nothing to do in the Middle East.”

Well, since by all accounts, his next stop after the Premiership is likely to be jail, then yeah…

Not sure how smart a move it is to seriously piss off the US Government: I’m guessing Bibi thinks he can pull another number like he did with the Iran nuclear deal, and pitch an appeal directly to the (US) Opposition, flipping the bird to the incumbent Administration all the while. While staking his future on the upcoming election results…

But it’s not so much of sure thing now, IMO.

The Israeli government needs to open more land routes for food and medicine today. It needs to stop killing civilians and aid workers today. It needs to start the long journey to peace today.
You cannot save the hostages by bombing every building in Gaza.
You cannot win this war by starving an entire population.

Bibi disagrees with the bolded part. By now, it is crystal clear that Bibi’s policy in Gaza is to implement a final solution (without being completely obvious about it).

We’re about to build a pier there, for the express purpose of preventing starvation. If it needs anti-aircraft systems, that can happen.

The point of this war is that Bibi and his cronies stay in power, Chef Andrés.

If any hostages are freed, Bibi will accept that. But he doesn’t regard it as a necessary condition for him staying out of jail.

As long as this war goes on Bibi will be in power. That’s the whole point of this.

He’ll be cool if the Palestinians are driven out of Gaza or all in the ground but that’s secondary.

Must read this book again. Current events in Israel keep reminding me of it. At Any Price

i am not overworked/overloaded

i hate when otherwise nice people get whiny all of a sudden
and cant do the simplest thing (like open their mail)
and expect that i should do it for them (cause i have nothing else to do)
and of course expect that i dont bill the time and eat it

oh, and dont get me started on software and how it’s ‘supposed’ to work vs how it actually doesnt

ah me. it’ll soon be over…

Interesting local saga.

You may remember that I have commented several times about the efforts by MAGAts to stir up culture wars in Loudon County, Virginia over the past few elections. It worked well enough to help get Youngkin elected as Virginia Governor in 2022. Fortunately Biden did carry the State in 2020 (By 10 points iirc!).

The Town of Herndon is officially in Fairfax County. However, parts of it are actually in neighboring Loudon County. And there is a contingent of MAGAts in the town. Who view Fairfax County as an evil commie zone. Including a few in various city government positions.

Anywho…
The head of the Fairfax County Police Academy is proudly of Chinese ancestry. For fun, he apparently signs Fairfax Police Academy graduate diplomas using his Chinese signature.

Well, the City of Herndon Chief of Police decided to kick up a fuss when she saw that the three recent department graduates had Chinese signatures on their diplomas. She declared that the diplomas were unacceptable and that she didn’t want Herndon officers to receive these.

Things turned out a bit differently, though…

Washington Post Gift Article: Fairfax police academy bars Herndon officers in dispute over Chinese signature

When 61 law enforcement trainees graduated last month from Fairfax County’s Criminal Justice Training Academy, including county police officers and some from smaller departments in Fairfax, each received a certificate signed by the academy’s director, county police Maj. Wilson Lee, who is Chinese American.

Lee, whose given name is Lee Wai-Shun, signed the certificates in Chinese, as he typically does. Among those who received certificates March 7 were three new officers from the Herndon town police force — the first trainees from that department to attend the academy since Lee took command more than a year ago. When Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBoard noticed the Chinese signature shortly before the graduation ceremony, she was not pleased.

“This is not acceptable for my agency,” she told Lee in an email. “I don’t want our Herndon officers to receive these.”

Not only did Fairfax County refuse to issue new certificates as DeBoard requested, but a top Fairfax official also has notified DeBoard that Herndon police trainees will no longer be welcome at the academy.

I have some friends who are very religious (not Orthodox, though). One of them has a son and grandchildren living in Israel. They have always been thoughtful women but after October 7, they changed dramatically. Their attitudes toward Palestinians are the same as ours toward the Germans and Japanese during WWII — no concern about civilian deaths, because they are all guilty.

We are living through very dark times in our nation and our world. Let’s hope we can get through this.

That is really weird.

It is being reported as “global outage” which implies some centralized issue. The major systems that I worked with tried to decentralize and diversify in order to minimize network downtime. It seemed to me that Apple was one of the smarter players.

War First, Then Annexation: Is Israel Preparing to Permanently Occupy Gaza?

This paragraph was chilling, referring to Netanyahu’s government:

“But the real reason this government wants to keep power is to advance its broad agenda: Inequality by law (Jewish supremacy); theocracy; annexation; gut the welfare state; legitimize corruption. To do these, the government is rapidly consolidating executive power, stacking the public sector with political loyalists and dismantling democratic institutions.”

Pretty much what Trump wants to do also (substitute Christian supremacy for Jewish).

Dad had to take a team of boilermakers from Shippingport PA to a power station in Ohio for emergency repairs on the 3rd and 4th. They just finished the repair work when those tornadoes started to appear. Dad got in his car and he said he didn’t care how many speeding tickets he got he was getting the F out of there Remember seeing the news covering the tornadoes. I was at Pitt getting ready for the end of the trimester. Mom call me in hysterics she was so scared that Dad was gonna get caught up. While she was on the phone I heard the door open and boy dad said DAMN I got to get to the john. Sure nuff he ran up the steps and I heard him yelp a big ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh and that toilet flush.
