How are you getting the link? You should use the 3-dot menu below the post, and “Copy link to post.”

<— Really annoyed with Kristof that he cost me 90 minutes of my Saturday to refute his bullshit.

Why Nicholas Kristof Is Wrong on Immigration
There are arguments for why Biden should curb immigration. Kristof ain’t making them.
danieldrezner.substack.com

“…Beyond these extremely weak arguments, all Kristof has to fall back on, “well we can’t let everyone in!” Which is true but also completely besides the point. To the extent that the crisis at the border is a real crisis, it has little to do with U.S. immigration policy and everything to do with U.S. foreign policy efforts to bolster political stability and increase economic opportunity in Latin America.

Indeed, Kristof used to know this, given that he wrote in 2019, “even in a troubled country like this, aid can help by giving ordinary Guatemalans some sense that they might have a future where they are…. on balance, the evidence suggests that aid reduces emigration…. the most effective approach seems to be not a higher wall or meaner policies, but smart aid offered with a dose of humanity.”

When they reach the level of something like a Real Doll, that can move independently with an internal power source, combined with a more advanced version of an AI chatbot - then we’ll reach the “eternally single” moment.

Or maybe something like Joi from Blade Runner 2049…I could see that in the next 25 to 30 years.

Reddit’s f/FundieSnarkUncensored follows this libertarian family of religious-loving overpopulated wingnuts from Saskatchewan, but Wonkette actually snarks better on them (probably more practice).

Parts one and two of their saga at Wonkette revolves around Dad getting a message from God that Canada is going to hell in a handbasket, because he saw Pride flags in Saskatoon, meaning the end of the “white race” in Saskatachewan (a province which is 85% white). It’s also the end of Christianity (because persecution is built into the religion.)

So, sell their free-and-clear owned farm to move to godly and free-of-gays Russia with eight of their nine kids to buy a farm in Russia.

Well, you can’t own land in Russia unless you’re a Russian. To become a citizen you must be able to speak Russian (they don’t). They found out how free Russia is when they criticised the immigration process on their Christian social media influencer channels.

Now they’re in poverty, with no farm, and no prospects, but they’re free of Teh Geyh. God Works In Mysterious Ways.
