The NY Times Just Published A 5000-Word Analysis Of The Financial Crisis With A One Word Answer: Bush.
These are the Bush years, where all problems must be blamed on the outgoing president. For those of such a persuasion, The New York Times has just published a six-click monstrosity that blames the financial crisis on Bush. Don’t worry, there is hardly any mention of the previous administration, the Fed, or Congress. They might allude to other causes, but if it doesn’t touch the White House, it’s not in this piece. If Bush did anything right, it only gets a one sentence mention and is immediately hedged. Finally, it contains plenty of justification for Obama to intervene massively in the markets.
Everything is seen through a liberal prism. For liberals in the audience, enjoy.
For conservatives, remember this: if the White House were at fault, the Democratic Congress would drag as many as possible to the Hill for some grandstanding hearings like they did over the Justice Department firings. The fact that they haven’t tried in this case says a lot.
