Taliban Buy Lal Masjid Weapons Back From Police
ISLAMABAD: An intelligence agency is said to have found some clues to unearth the “Mother of all Thefts” of dangerous weapons from a police station of the federal capital. The weapons were said to have been returned to the Taliban elements, from whose possession these were seized during the Lal Masjid operation last year.
The intelligence agencies are also probing links between the police officials and the Taliban who were said to have struck a quiet deal to get their useful weapons back from the law enforcement agencies. Sources alleged a lot of money had changed hands in the process of “theft of these dangerous weapons” from the Aabpara police station.
According to sources, the weapons were returned to the Taliban elements with the hope that the secret deal would not be leaked ever. In a shocking development, authorities concerned arrested the SHO who had actually brought the issue of missing weapons into the notice of high-ups. He is now being made a scapegoat to save some of the holy cows within the departments concerned who are said to have actually played an important role in the whole scam.
One source claimed that actually a DSP was involved in the scam, as he had hatched the plan to hand over these weapons back to those from whom these were recovered and deposited in the police station.
