Ayaan Hirsi Ali une Française?
Paris - Hundreds of supporters of the Somali-born former Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali have gathered in the French capital Paris to ask that the outspoken critic of Islamic extremism be granted French citizenship. Many of her supporters berated the Dutch government for refusing to pay for her security costs.
Ms Hirsi Ali, who attended the gathering, told the audience that “the principles of freedom are far more precious than the principles of Islam”.
Ms Hirsi Ali left the Netherlands after former Dutch interior minister Rita Verdonk attempted to revoke her citizenship. She is now living in the United States, where she has been seaking funds for her protection after the Dutch government stopped paying for her bodyguards.
