Hereford business seeks new owner for concrete image resembling Virgin Mary
For years the image has been honored as a holy relic. Travelers would stop at the U.S. Highway 60 site to pray or place candles and flowers.
Now Warner Seeds Inc. is looking for someone to take the concrete slab with an image that many believe resembles the Virgin Mary off their hands, said Gloria Perez, office manager.
“A lot of people go there for their form of worship,” Perez said. “We don’t want to take that away from anyone when we open up our business there.”
Warner Seeds recently purchased the warehouse located at 3530 U.S. 60 — west of Hereford near the community of Summerfield — from Griffin Produce Sales.
There is no cost for the concrete, Perez said. Warner Seeds only asks that those interested pay to have the concrete removed, promise to keep it intact and place it where the community can appreciate it.
The company also asks that whoever relocates the concrete places a sign at the old site, indicating the new location.
Anyone interested in the concrete should contact Perez at (xxx)xxxxxxx.
