Hitchens on Cancer, Death, God, and libations
A striking interview, I recommend that anyone who smokes or drinks heavy watch this. My very life has been recently saved by lucky diagnosis and a quarter of a million dollars worth of medical intervention — you don’t want to go there if you can possibly avoid it. The past week I spent in Forsythe taking my mother to her infusions for Stage IV lung cancer, just as Hitchens describes his infusions in this interview. She smoked all of her life as I did. You don’t want to go there… you just don’t want to go there because life is so … so.. indescribably beautiful and you don’t really understand it until you see it leaving. You don’t want to go there.
