From what we know, there is no reason there cannot be life there. It’s at the right distance from its star to have liquid water in some places.
I do wonder if they’ve thought about the consequences of having the planet tidally locked. Wouldn’t most of the water evaporate, precipitate on the dark side, then freeze? The only source of liquid water on the lit side would then be glacial flow.
So it’s not certain there’ll be life there. Even if life develops wherever possible. We’ll see.
