There are larger socioeconomic issues at play here. The American people simply aren’t hungry and motivated the way they were in, say, the 1940s. Why should they be? Even in a deep recession, our lives are relatively easy. Meanwhile, the two largest countries in the world - India and China - have all the desire to innovate and acquire wealth. The only people who work hard in this country are our immigrant population.
