Gay-Hating Church Group Protests In Prince William Monday (Talibaptists support DC shooter)
UPDATE 7:15am - Two demonstrations are underway at Woodbridge High School. The Westboro Baptist Church group, holding up anti-gay, anti-America and anti-military signs, and a far larger group, holding up just one sign, which reads “Love”.
WASHINGTON - Members of the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church will be protesting Monday morning at Woodbridge Senior High School, and Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Cory Stewart leaves no doubt about how he feels towards them.
“Shouldn’t even call itself a church. Its a disgusting, anti-American, anti-military organization,” Stewart told 630 WMAL News.
The Westboro Baptist Church has become known for protesting at military funerals, claiming that American soldiers are killed because of America’s toleration of homosexuality.
After the school protest, the protesters plan to rally at a Coast Guard recruiting center to show support for whomever fired shots at the building recently.
A counter-protest at the school has been organized by a Woodbridge Senior High School graduate. But Stewart and police officials have urged people who are opposed to the church group to stay away from the area to avoid problems.
Stewart says he fears for the safety of the church members.
“If you really want to anger them keep away from them and ignore them,” Stewart said.
