Lindberg Field - SD Airport - must show boarding pass to get in security line, and have it out & visible, as usual for any airport. Oh and it's usually a long line in the a.m.

re: #1 Stanley Sea

He was taking a hunting trip. Maybe he thought he could sneak some ammo on the plane or something. He's a paulian and his webpage has the usual crap about the Federal Reserve and such. Maybe he was trying an experiment but got nervous when going through security. Airplane tickets are non refundable and he lost whatever he put down as a deposit for lodging, rental car etc. He just walked away from probably $1,000 or so. Something doesn't smell right.

Thanks. I updated with that.

But they attacked us first, on 9/11, you say. Why do you suppose that was? No, they don't hate our freedom. They hate our unqualified support of Israel and implicit backing of their treatment of their Palestinian neighbors. They hate the fact that we set up military bases around the world including on what they believe to be holy land. Look at it another way. Just yesterday, China announced plans to set up a military base in the Middle East. What do you think about the possibility of Chinese military bases on American soil? If you don't like the idea, then why do you think it's right for the U.S. to set up bases elsewhere?

I almost updated with that but I think you should make that into a Page on its own. Conservatives are being played by antisemites and deserve some heat for it.

What a delusional asshole. He's another of those "conservatives" who claim to love America and then proceed to oppose every measure taken to defend America from her totalitarian enemies. I despise such people when they call them selves conservative just as much as when they call themselves liberal.

Sure the guys an asshole and a lunatic, but even after only moderate travelling in the recent years I really do not like airport security.
I seems that, especially here in Europe, every part of the world has their own silly rules regarding flying, and at airports, they are all added up!!
Many security checks are completely redundant, unnecessary and there because of bureaucracy, and not safety.

I mean seriously - why are we not allowed to take a 500ml bottle of water on board? I have no troubles in drinking a sip of the water if asked to, or supply a sample for a test. I've seen 50-yr old women having to hand-in their mascara and hand cream because it wasn't in a clear plastic bag or the total was over 1000ml.

I'm all for proper security on airports, but is it really needed to have two security checks, one right after checking in and one at the gate? Isn't one (then just at the gate) not enough?

I didn't see the video (I just read the story), and surely the guy is a bit of a tool, but on the other hand - from the article it appears that he didn't assault anyone, and chose to not go on his flight because he refused the security check. Fair enough... to threaten him with a 10k fine is very silly and childish, and wouldn't do the TSA any good.

I'd like to see a good, rational review of security measures, so flying become a bit less a pain-in-the-ass then it already is.

You were right, and I was taken in by a kook. I appreciate being set right by people here with easy to review evidence.

This article claims that one of the reasons Israeli airport security is so much better than ours, is that the Israeli people wouldn't put up with TSA-style tactics. I'd love to hear from people with more knowledge on the topic.
