Maoists blow up ambulance, five killed - Hindustan Times
The Maoists’ claim of not targeting non-combatants was again belied on Saturday night, when they blew up an ambulance in Kandhamal district, killing at least five persons. Those who died included a woman health worker (asha karmi), a three-year-old girl and the driver of the vehicle. They were
returning to their village after admitting a pregnant woman in a hospital in neighbouring Ganjam.
“We suspect the hand of the CPI (Maoist) behind the landmine blast. An extensive combing operation is on in the area to nab the culprits,” Kandhamal police superintendent Pravin Kumar said.
