Leaked U.S. cable describes Turkish PM as having ‘little understanding of politics beyond Ankara’.
This assessment may have been a strategic mistake. It seems that US Middle East policy has taken a turn for the worse after a few months of optimism. Erdogan might be the reason for the reversal.
I think it’s time to watch Erdogan as a savvy politician, with Turkey having the most stable government of the Arab world. He very well might have ambitions that extend beyond his country, to the region, and into Europe.
