Petty, paranoid, rudderless assclowns, with an acute God addiction that borders on mental illness. They need professional help.

Quite frankly, E pluribus unum is a much better national motto than In God We Trust. It really does accurately reflect this country, made up of immigrants from all over the world.

Of course, that doesn’t fit the wingnut agenda. They’d rather hold on to a McCarthy-era relic instead. =P

I wonder what they’d say if the President went up to them and just started shouting “GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD” to them over and over.

And I truly think that’s what they don’t like about it!

I went for the easy snark in the page, but this is all part of the perpetual revisionism and Faux Founding Fathers Fetishism that we see all over the place— ongoing attempts to reinvent the US as a ‘white christian nation’ by claiming that’s it’s nature (false) and has been so since it’s founding (also false).
This is the era where we have Glenn beck running around claiming to be ‘the real’ thomas paine after all. HA!

And if he did mention God more, they’d say he was twisting the word of God.

I think they should take this astroturfed, discriminating, 1950s McCarthyist “In God We Trust” and shove it.

“In God We Trust” is a McCarthyite lie about America that needs to be corrected - ie removed - ASAP.

So now they count the number of times the word God is “omitted?” Who the fuck are these assholes who have enough time to count the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin? Who the fuck are these…Oh that’s right. We elected them so they can guide us towards that bright shiny future they have in store for us them.

If Bush had given the same speech, there would have been no controversy. Indeed, he gave similar speeches after 9/11 trying to calm feelings of Islamophobia here and abroad.

But when you start with the presumption that Obama is less American than most of the rest of us, it becomes easy to find something sinister in virtually everything he says. And clearly many Americans see him as less of a real American than themselves. Why else would Obama have been singled out among all the 2008 presidential hopefuls as the one whose birth certificate we needed to see. Nobody even asked to see certificates for Hillary, Huckabee or any of the other candidates. Hmm, inquiring minds want to know what the difference is between Obama and all those others.

A great comment I read on Wonkette today about this story included the quote:
“I believe my conduct is in accordance with the will of the almighty creator”
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Volume 1, Chapter 2.

I shudder to think what would’ve happened if Obama said this about Putin:

I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy and we had a very good dialogue.

I was able to get a sense of his soul.

He’s a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country and I appreciate very much the frank dialogue and that’s the beginning of a very constructive relationship.
