If Carter thinks it’s OK to break the Oslo Accords and ditch the Road Map, then according to this standard, Israel should be released from any commitments as well and be free to take unilateral steps.

I’m not enough of a wonk on this to comment on what the effects would be but Brazil really wants to be a power broker in the region.

His term limit is up and they’ve had an election but while he was president, Lula seemed pretty intent on building relationships with all the key players in the Middle East. I would not underestimate Brazil’s ambition. As the US recedes, various states are going to be stepping in to try to play various roles this country has assumed for the last sixty years.
