Gurkhas to Protest Parliament March 19
Determined to get the rights denied to them till now, former Gurkha soldiers, their families and sympathizers have decided to picket Britain’s parliament on March 19, Kantipur Daily reported.
The parliament building in London is being picketed as part of the protest program to exert pressure on the government to fulfill the demands of the Gurkhas and is being organized by Britain’s third largest party Liberal Democrat. Thousands of former Gurkha soldiers and their supporters would participate in this protest program.
The organizers would start the ‘Gurkha campaign’ for justice and equal rights from the parliament street at 10 am.
During the protest rally which would be led by Liberal Democrat’s senior leader Nick Clark, district counselor Peter Carol and Folkston town counselor Dhan Gurung, the organizers have also plans to return 50 medals the Gurkha soldiers had received for their ‘battle skill and bravery’ during countless wars they fought for Britain.
