Zach Wahls was raised by a gay couple, and spoke about what family means to him before an open forum in the Iowa House yesterday. His speech was very stirring, and very compelling for the case that legislative bigotry accomplishes nothing in this country. Give it a watch.

Nice speech.
However, the Iowa GOP has made its anti-gay agenda the #1 concern of state politics, and not only do they want to make sure that “marriages” only apply to a man and woman, and not only do they want to outlaw “civil unions”, they want the state to disregard any other such unions made in another state (which obviously goes against the US constitution, but heh, what matters more - the Constitution or the Law of God?)

So good! I sent the link to my ex because her biggest struggle is believing that it will all be ok in the end. She wants children but does not what to make her kids freaks or pariahs. I hope seeing and listening to this guy will help!

I was raised by lesbian parents and I know a whole bunch of other people raised by lesbian parents (more than twenty over the age of 18). If you (or your ex) ever wants to talk to someone about what it’s like to be raised by gays and lesbians I’d be happy to help. I’m currently living just west of Boston, so I’m in your neighborhood so to speak.

I would hope that every person who was ever against gay marriage that hears or has had that speech would look into their heart, feel shame and change how they feel about this issue.
