Second Stained Glass Project
OK, so here’s my second project. Silly me - I figured because this project involved all straight lines and no curves, it wouldn’t be as difficult as the first project which had several curves in it.
NOT SO! If you take a class, don’t be afraid of choosing a project with some curves while you have access to your teacher. It is NOT any more difficult that a project with all straight lines; and you’ll learn how to cut the curved pieces.
What isn’t obvious in this piece are the places where my soldering iron got too hot, which vaporizes the lead. Lead doesn’t melt and blob up, it just quite simply disappears. I fixed it by removing the solder from those areas, then by cutting a piece of lead, using just top portion rather then the full “U” shaped piece, and inserting it where the full lead was missing, then re-soldering. Not the best fix, and of course it would be completely unacceptable for professional purposes, but hey - this is just for me and so it worked just fine!
What I like about this piece are the different textures of the clear glass, plus the bevels add some interest as well.
