Frances Perkins Erased From History In Maine
Governor Paul LePage of Maine has ordered the removal of a mural from the state labor department, showing a 1937 strike, Rosie the Riveter, and former U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Frances Perkins. He’s also ordered Perkin’ name, and those of various labor leaders, removed from conference rooms.
How come?
The Governor’s spokesman explains that the mural and the conference-room names were “not in keeping with the department’s pro-business goals.”
Kind of says it all.
