Drug that could stop MS discovered after scientists pinpoint chemical ‘driving force’ behind the illness | Mail Online
If this drug works in humans, this would be huge.
I have a couple of friends with MS - one has what seems to be a mild version, with occasional periods of weakness followed by periods of time when everything seems perfectly normal. The other one has a version that has progressed quickly and has been most devastating - she and her husband have no relationship whatsoever anymore, and she now must depend on her sisters who come help her to do even very basic things, like bathing, etc. One of the really weird things about MS is that people can be very ill, but they LOOK as if they are perfectly normal, something that I think must complicate relationships with family & friends - if you look normal, but are unable to function, I would expect people could get very frustrated with you very quickly.
A drug that could stop multiple sclerosis in its tracks has been discovered by scientists.
In a major breakthrough in the battle against the devastating disease, researchers have pinpointed the chemical ‘driving force’ behind MS.
Without it, the disease does not develop. And when it is mopped up, symptoms are greatly eased, even in brains already ravaged by the illness.
