And we know this was done by practicing church going “christians” - how, exactly?
The news report said the investigation was ongoing.

We know from Location, & who’s actively opposed to gays and campaigning against them in this country, and the sentiment expressed.
Do Buddhists or Bahais have a special hell for Gays that I don’t know about or something?

Do all Christians?
It sounds as if you believe they do. Why mention any faith at all?
It sounds here sometimes as if most folks here believe all Christians are haters and evil scoundrels.
If we can forgive those of other faiths who are evil and not apply a broad brush, why the hell does the broad brush get applied so often to Christians?
I’ve had my fill of it, I guess.

Hate toward gays is displayed by many who proclaim to be of the Christian faith. We accept that Islam is been hijacked by some radicals who terrorize. I accept that, I know (and am related to) Muslims who are not radical.
HOWEVER, there were many threads here, when someone tried to say the same thing about Christians, that such-and-such is NOT a Christian tenet regardless of what some idiot like Fred Phelps says/does, so many jump in to lecture us: Oh, no, if he says he’s Christian, why then, he must be Christian and so then his disgusting beliefs must have root in Christianity, so Christianity, well UGH!
HATRED OF THIS SORT is not Christian. It is a twisting of Christian belief. Now, go ahead, tell me how damned wrong I am. That’s what so many here do so very very very well.

The horse show world is populated by some of the shittiest Christians around. I’ve been in this circle, and in this business, professionally, for many many years. No, these aren’t real Christians in the sense you’re talking about, but they identify as Christians. As a group, they overwhelmingly identify as Christian. In the face of some of the most un-Christian behavior possible - toward people and animals both - they proudly call themselves Christians. There’s enough crucifix gear and tack and cowboy church out there to choke a horse, and they sure as hell aren’t concerned one whit if Jews or atheists might feel uncomfortable with their overt Christianity, fake as fuck as it is.
They’re Christian like Jerry Falwell was Christian. They’re hateful, backwards, dominionist freaks. And they are the majority, in this circle.
And this is most likely who did this. It was likely someone “in the know” and “in the biz” who cannot stomach the fact a “fag” has infiltrated their creepy faux Christian circle. What was not published in this article is this person says he had been threatened before this incident by someone in this business, and he has been treated badly in this circle because of his sexuality.
This isn’t about ganging up on Christians. It’s about the likelihood some prick that considers himself one did this.

And you don’t even want to hear what these “good Christians” traveling this circle have to say about our black president, or Muslims./added
A few years ago a gentleman from South Africa - a black Muslim - came to visit the facility a bunch of us “show” horse people have our horses. He happened to own some very well bred, expensive horses, where he came from. He was nothing but pleasant, friendly, charming, and professional.
If you heard the horrible things said about him from our “good Christian” horse folk population, it would curl your hair.
One, a pastor’s son that considers himself the one the bestest horsey Christians, called him a “fucking n**ger terrorist.” This is the same persons that calls one of our Jewish members a fucking Jew (because he didn’t attend Cowboy fucking church, we both sat it out together), and hates Jews, because “they killed Christ!” Don’t even ask what he thinks about gays, because it doesn’t get any better.
You want to know what else? His opinion is the majority in our circle of horsey peeps. And every one of those jackasses thinks they’re a terrific Christian, and their faith is under attack because Bill O’Reilly tells them it is. Makes you wanna puke.

“Burn in hell” is what Christian fundamentalist bigots say to people they don’t like. You seem awfully defensive here, nowhere did I say “all christians”, indeed you are the one who said that. If you can’t understand the sarcasm so blatant it doesn’t even need a sarc tag well…. just have to wonder what’s up with that?

What’s up with that?
Well, it could be that, as goddamnedfrank has told me on more than one occasion, I’m just stupid.
Or it could be I’m just tired of seeing “How Christian of them” mantra, applied to things that are obviously unchristian. I say “obviously” because it is to me, but perhaps there are some who think it is very Christian behavior, which is why they add the “How Christian of them”? to the story?
The behavior was disgusting and vile and criminal, regardless of who carried it out or what their beliefs are are what they profess to be. Enough said IMO.

The story is about the criminals who carried out this action, not what their beliefs are or what they profess to believe. Well, that’s how I see it, unless, of course, one has a fetish for continuously pointing out how eeeveeel those Christians are.

Care to describe the various levels of shitty as applied to Christians?
What, we have:
regular shitty
pretty darned shitty
really shitty
the shittiest
Does that sum it up?
