Welcome to the super-media age, when even bat guano crazy people can look normal and pool their resources for nifty professional logos and flashy websites.

Aren't the Republicans worried about this? A fair proportion of their base could evaporate on Saturday.

"Awesome News" indeed.

One sign read "Have you heard the awesome news? May 21st!"
Then the next sign read "Our god is a consuming fire!"
Yikes! Some people just like it rough i guess.

I am torn. On one hand I want to point and laugh at these deluded people. On the other I expect that many of them are going to be really hurt Sunday morning.

It's more like they are happy because they think everyone else is going to die.

It's fun to go up to them and ask for all their money / cell phone, since they won't be needing it.

As somebody with the "inside scoop" on all this, I can tell you that very few Republicans will be partying down with me in space when this goes down for real.

I don't give a shit what these idiot adults think, but the ones with kids are beneath contempt, for feeding their children this kind of end-times bullshit.

For their trouble (and stupidity) I hope they wind up carless, foreclosed, penniless, hungry, and their children taken away. Let them grovel their way out of their self-imposed economic problems and realize that scaring/scarring children with death fairy tales has consequences beyond the mental and emotional damage they impose.

Don't be. The overwhelming evidence from psychological study of such people is that the resulting cognitive dissonance is so profound, they will simply move their internal goalposts to where they were never wrong and can avoid any sense of contradiction.

For the overwhelming majority, there will be no self-reflection, sense of disappointment, or negative emotional consequence.
