She's quite mad, really. But not in the queer old spinster aunt way - in the creepy, "God is telling me what you ought to do and if you resist you are an abomination" way.

Her campaign could be good for the GOP primary system in the long run. If she wins the Iowa caucuses but then goes down in flames perhaps the RNC will decide to put a sane state's primary first and bury the Iowa nutters at the back of the pack where they belong.

What if that "God" that "speaks" to her is really Bruce the Mischievous Elf from the Andromeda Star System. And he's just screwing with her? One mans vision is another mans hallucination. If she's sane, I'm Peter Pan.

You're just jealous because the little voices in her head won't talk to you.

Clearly God wants Obama to win re-election easily! Run, wingnuts, run! Bachmann/Palin 2012!

I actually think it is the ravenous star goat with 1000 mile long scything teeth from The Hitchhickers Guide To The Galaxy.

They raise foster kids. One of the few things I like about her.

I imagine it happened as follows:

Bachmann goes to the highest mountain, in an attempt to get closer to God and hear Him clearer. She yells: "God, should I run?"

And she hears: "RUN, Run, run, run, run, run..."

Which sane state would that be? Even here in the most decidedly blue Pacific Northwest, registered Republicans most likely to take part in a primary are just as [insert adjective here] as Repubicans in, say, Texas or the deep south. My dad, himself what I would describe as a 'crazy republican', when to a republican convention not mere miles away from Portland OR of all places and basically found himself out-crazied.

TL;DR: The (in)sanity knows no geographical bounds.

Me too. But how much you wanna bet she takes the maximum tax deductions and gets state/federal assistance for being a foster parent when she can while simultaneously deploring others for not 'paying their share' or criticizing the mere existence of social assistance programs?

I agree, she gives me the willies. She speaks as if she's just an empty vessel along for the ride—God and her husband make all the decisions for her. Apparently God micro-manages everything. And the part about "visions", ugh, I'm all to familiar with that particular claim.

This absolves her of any personal responsibility for the outcome her actions. It makes it impossible for her to be wrong, to fail or to be considered blameworthy since whatever happens is attributable God's Will™, not Michelle Bachmann's.

Oral Roberts University and being taught the law from the Biblical worldview? Not exactly a comforting thought: Bring on the Rushdoony reconstructionism!

Oh, and going back to the husband, since she said she has to be submissive to her husband (apparently in ALL matters), then I guess we can safely assume that we'd actually be electing him as president. Is anyone vetting him? Let's do an exercise that changes the conversation between her & hubby about the post-doctorate in tax law to one about international affairs:

Marcus: God has put it in my heart that you should bomb Country X.

Michelle: Bomb Country X? I hate the idea of killing masses of innocent civilians. Why should I do that?

Marcus: Because I told you to and the Lord says wives should be submissive to their husbands. This isn't an order from me, it's coming from God through me. If you disobey me you're disobeying God.

Michelle: Well, okay. *Sighs, takes out the biscuit, picks up red phone...*

I can't effing stand religious fanatics—GAH!

*Runs to bedroom to scream into pillow so neighbors won't freak out*
