Russia Backs Assad While Syrian Regime Continues Crackdown
Russia continues to foil efforts to deal with Syria in the UN Security Council as diplomats try to get Russia to abstain rather than outright veto any action against Assad.
That’s all while Assad’s thugs are preparing for an assault on Jisr al Shugur, where Assad’s media outlets claim 120 security forces were killed in ambushes by opposition forces (but reports are disputed by local witnesses who claim that the numbers are inflated and/or the security forces were killed by Assad’s loyalists for refusing orders to crack down on protesters).
