In 2008, President Shimon Peres began the “Facing Tomorrow” Conference in Israel, a gathering of celebrities, politicians and diplomats, comedians and singers, all with a future look on various subjects important to Israel, the Middle East and the world. Topics include education, medicine, biotechnology, the environment, agriculture and water, nuclear proliferation, transportation, information systems, and much more.

This year’s event (June 21-23) brought Shakira who does a lot of work for UNICEF and the education of children living all over the planet. Sarah Silverman showed up for a few laughs as well.
