CIF vitriol in the Guardian - the ever more hateful Haneen Zoabi
I should learn to expect never to be shocked by the escalating anti-Semitism and blatant falsehoods spewed forth on the pages of “comment is free”. But Zoabi is close to jumping the shark.
The decision to ban the Palestinian leader Sheikh Raed Salah from entering Britain, and then to arrest him, was transparently not based on any serious examination of his political activities. It was an ugly kneejerk response to the growing hostility of the Israeli establishment and its supporters abroad towards anyone opposing its racist policies – and a rising tide of Islamophobia in Europe.
Raed Salah was subject to a ban from the UK, and managed to enter despite this prohibition. Now he is subject to deportation by the UK authorities. Why ban a “Palestinian Leader”?. Maybe because his biography is not quite so very peaceful and mainstream (via globaljihad.net)The Oslo accords of 09/1993 caused a split in the Israeli Islamic Movement whereby the Northern branch, led by the charismatic Raed Salah opposed the agreement, coherent to the Hamas position, and the Southern branch, led by Sheikh Abdullah Nimer Darwish supported the agreement and led a policy of reaching out to Israel. Nowadays (10/2009) there is a total rift between the two offshoots and Raed Salah is the undisputed radical leader of the so called Northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel.
In 2001 Raed Salah was barred from leaving Israel because of his strong ties with other Islamic movements with a Jihadi ideology in the Middle East. In 05/2003 Raed Salah was arrested by the Israeli police and sentenced to two years in jail for raising millions of dollars for Hamas in Jenin, Northern Samaria. Part of the money was used to finance terror attacks in Israel
Yes, Ms Zoabi: those evil racists are really a problem. But you are looking for them in the wrong place.
