Feds probe Wake jail on immigration
Another sign that illegal immigrants are getting a different standard of justice than they should. After years of the nativist lobbies dehumanizing illegals the effects start to penetrate our legal authorities. Human rights are for all humans, and our laws are undone when we waver from our principles.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investigating complaints that immigration detainees have been mistreated at the Wake County jail in Raleigh.
The agency’s civil rights chief sent a letter last month announcing the probe to the North Carolina chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU had coordinated a group of 57 complaints from people detained at the jail in 2009 and 2010.
The complaints include allegations that people were called racial slurs, not informed of their rights and forced to sign their names to documents.
