So if Google had acquired the rights to these patents, that would have been OK. But when others acquired them, it’s a “hostile, organized campaign”. It’s OK for Google to undermine Microsoft’s for-pay OS licensing business by giving Android away for free, but it’s not OK for Microsoft to undermine Google’s attempts to give away for free an OS that violates patents belonging to Microsoft?

Actually giving away the handles to make money on the blades is a long held marketing tradition.

Courts in the past, have not looked favorably on companies that use patents as a way to hurt other companies.

A group of companies united to buy Canadian Patents from the now dead Nortel.

You may recall that Google was initially in the bidding for these patents as well. They are also pursuing the InterDigital portfolio. Everyone is doing the patent dance.

Meanwhile, the rest of us have to try the Safety Dance. Unfortunately, we’re not exactly at the top of the food-fuck-and-dance chain…

True, but everyone else ganged together. I am not taking sides here. But…

I actually own shares in Microsoft, so I like the idea of them making money on each and every Android.

However I do seem to like the idea of a very inexpensive product, strictly from a consumer POV. Android is really selling well. They say it is selling half a million per DAY! That is really astounding.
