I wonder where this persons right to his own freedom to express his own religious beliefs start?

I mean if a muslim person speaking at a Minnesota rally for Kieth Ellison said "Allah Akbar", would it be equally offensive to you?

Well this rally was strictly for Christians to pray and preach about Jesus (or their perception). I imagine Keith Ellison wouldn't have a rally specifically to preach Islam, but if he did, no it wouldn't be unusual for someone to be espousing religion. If he had a rally for his political party and someone started preaching Islam, that would be wrong. As it would be for Gov Perry.

My problem with Bickle is the whole Oprah, The Anti-Christ meme. He says that her charity work (helping children, charter schools, Katrina victims to name a few) are secretly the work of the devil.

How can "God is great" be construed as offensive to any person who believes in God?

Christians believe Muslims worship a different God than they do hence Allahu Akbar equals praise for a false God, something people were put to death for in the Old Testament.

Really?
I mean, it's an awfully big list.
How does he know his god's the real one and the others false???

Many more than what's on that list.

I don't think the issue really is about Christians having a prayer rally or what they believe. There's nothing wrong with that. What's wrong is that a governor organized a very specific religious rally and what I should have mentioned above. A governor is supposed to be representing all people in their state and I would think all politicians need to be very careful how they are perceived in favoring one group over another.

Of course, everyone is entitled to attend services at their religion of choice, but The Response wasn't that at all.

I've read some stuff this morning that verifies what you say, and then I've read other things that back up what I said. Your text to link...

Seems to be a silly and harmful way to think...that your God is best or the only true God or that your God is not the same God as other religions, particularly the Abramahic religions. It immediately sets up "others" as the enemy and we see where that leads us.

Yeah. I'm not interested in criticizing evangelical theology, unless it's coming out of the mouth of someone who's running for public office, and has plans to make it public policy.

Then the gloves come off.

As for the original question, a lot of these intense evangelical groups seem to refer to 'Jesus' in situations where other Christians would say 'God', or 'God the Father', or 'the Trinity', or 'the Holy Ghost'. I assume there is some theological purpose behind this, I also think it has to do with their intense focus on personal redemption through Christ.
