Two doctors were shot and killed Saturday morning outside their home in Juárez, officials said.
One of the doctors worked at the Cereso prison, the site of a bloodbath last month in which 17 inmates were killed and 72 others were wounded when gang members opened fire with automatic weapons.
The victims were identified as Ana María Cisneros, 55, and Melquiades Rodríguez, 51. Cisneros worked at the Social Security Hospital and Rodriguez worked at the prison. Officials said the doctors may have been married to each other.
