Well, you can’t blame the Russians for all 4 failures. Phobos 2 was taken down by the aliens. :D

At least they got it into Earth orbit. Russian spacecraft have a history of not even making it that far.

As it has been shown before, Russia’s past space achievements usually involve lots of “WTF?” moments and dead cosmonauts. Thankfully, their safety has improved tremendously, but don’t expect any manned missions to Mars from any nation for a while, as everyone has had some form of problems and complications at points (like the Mars Rovers).

Well hey, in their defense, it’s not like they confused imperial and metric units like NASA did on that one Mars mission.

Despite being the second-closest planet, Mars missions seem to have the worst luck.
