Wikipedia responds to US Legislation attempts; 24 Hour Service Blackout
In what appears to be a direct response to SOPA and US legislation efforts surrounding the internet, Wikipedia has effectively blackened its service for a 24 hour period. Users of the English version of the popular website receive the following message after the page they try to reach finishes loading:

For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia. Learn more.
Make your voice heard
In addition, Craigslist, Reddit, the Cheezburger comedy network, moveon.org and others have joined along in support and blackened their sites as well, some with messages opposing the legislation attempts.
