I think, speaking on behalf of the collective humanity we will never learn to completely silence our cell phones in theaters and performances. There is ALWAYS going to be some asshole who doesn't do it, whatever the excuse may be. I think we should just accept it. Good for the violinist for keeping his composure and sense of humor intact.

re: #4 tacuba14

I personally usually leave my phone at home when I'm going to a movie or a live performance if not at least the car. I wouldn't say people are all aholes that leave their phone on. I know my wife thought she had hers on silent but it wasn't once.

It is a fact of modern life that people are going to have stupid ring tones going off. We just have to get over it. I was at a shiva a few weeks ago and the son of the person that had died phone rang during the prayers. They are a fairly religious family and had several rabbis there something like 4 of them and their entourage. One of them was reading prayers on his iPAD. This was a guy with the black hat beard and all. I don't think one of them didn't have a smart phone they were checking seconds before the prayers started. If those guys are loaded down with tech you just have deal with the new reality.

All that said I wonder if that is an old clip. Who still has a Nokia with that tone it is so 90's.

I keep my phone on vibrate all the time. It's a good solution except for when I forget where I put it.

Absolutely. I do the same thing. Another thing I do that I've found works is that I leave my phone in a pants pocket and then discover the battery's been dead for a week.
