I hope Sen. Coburn sticks to his guns on this one, partly because I’m afraid I actually agree with him, and partly because it could help to lose elections for batshit insane tea party members of the House of Reps.

In other words, Coburn’s got a point, but it’s terrible politics.

I hate to say it, but I kind of agree with Coburn. The foundation that’s handling the memorial is grossly mismanaged — its president pulls down more than $375,000 a year. The operating budget of the foundation is $60 *million* dollars a year. Christ on a crutch, that’s more than twice the budget of the freakin Guggenheim!

and as sproingie says, these guys seem to be burning money at an astonishing rate, far above what would seem necessary…
