I'm OK with anything that may permanently remove these people from the gene pool.

The people into these things were only looking for an appliance in the first place, not love.

This might be good for the socially/romantically challenged. But long term it promotes a far more selfish mental attitude.

Gay marriage is looking pretty good now, ain't it!

I don't think it's an issue of too lazy to have a mate or picking someone up at the bar. These guys seem to fall into one of two categories. Most I believe are socially awkward and really have a hard time having any kind of relationship, either with a man or woman.

The other category are men who are disabled or deformed in some way and really have little chance of attracting a mate but still are able to physically have sex.

I was reading about DaveCat a few months ago when an article came out about him and his doll. He seemed quite normal in many respects which actually made it even weirder to read about him. I read his blog and twitter page and he often uses self-deprecating humor about his relationship with the doll. So on one hand, he seems to realize it's just a doll, yet on his blog, he writes dialogue for her and scenarios about her, giving her a personality and a backstory to her life, where she was born, etc.

Of course the other issue is the longer these guys have non-human relationships, the harder it will be for them to ever relate to a mate. Life is more than just getting whatever you like or putting thoughts you want in another person's head. There's a joy of SELF GROWTH living with another person, learning about yourself through that experience. These guys should be in therapy, instead of some having some idiot like David Levy, "an expert" (of what?) telling them that this is normal behavior.

Used to be 27 inch TV's were enough on which to watch mind numbing stupid. Now we've created a market for 55 or 60 inches or more on which to watch mind numbing stupid.

Used to be magazines were enough.

Now we're creating a market for ...whatever these things are.

re: #6 researchok

Got rid of my TV in '66. Haven't owned one since. Watched the moon landing at IBM HQ on a company TV. If an event is important - some TV will be available or the event recorded.

In my public service days the Sheriff's TVs at his detention center were the highest priority item to keep running for my technicians. Higher than his communication systems. Kept his inmates mind numbing stupid and mellow.
