Look her up on Barth's Notes. She has a long career of being backed by thugs to seize kids and silence critics, and has enough power and money to make politicians and law enforcement in Nigeria knuckle under. And apparently her spiritual franchise is entangled with at least one American-based church.
Ukpabio's "ministry" isn't some kind of aberration; it's just an unfettered version of the superstition and cult-structured authoritarianism being advocated by some churches in this country: were it not for a healthy secular government, they'd be using the same strong-arm tactics here.
