Yemen: Security Forces Warned of Terror Attack on Capital
Yemen’s interior ministry has put the police and military under a heightened state of alert for a possible terrorist attack in the capital Sanaa , according to local media.
The police command has called for reinforcements around foreign embassies and other sensitive targets, Yemeni news site Barakish.net reported in Friday. Police are especially worried that foreigners will be targeted for attack.
Al-Qaeda’s branch in Yemen is considered one of the terror group’s most dangerous. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s (AQAP) was formed in January 2009 by a merger between two regional offshoots of the international Islamist militant network in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
