Try this:

I will repeat what I said before: This would be profoundly unchristian.

To try to force a person into holiness is not in line with the gospel.

The ancient laws against idolatry mean that one should not put any physical object before God. This includes your bling, your car, your fancy house, your fashion. You should also not worship fame, internet or otherwise.

If you think your friend is unduly attached to her statue, you should approach her with love and persuasion.

Tell him the Taliban heard him. Pat Robertson supports this?

Why do Christians have statues anyway? Isn’t that idolatry?

Mostly a Catholic/High Church thing. It’s not idolatry because the image is not seen to have any intrinsic power—it’s just a reminder. That can fall into abuse, and there have been iconoclastic movements in the early church and parts of the Protestant Reformation.

Yo Pat, Taliban already beat you to that. What a way to turn people onto your religion by being a total dick to theirs. And I’m sure Robertson is convinced that it’s Christians that are persecuted in this country yet he advocates harassing non-Christians.

I did know that, but I think that’s just a front, kinda like the disctinction between veneration (of Saints) and worship (of God). In the case of Jesus, it’s supposed to be okay because Jesus is God, but the whole Trinitiy doctrine seems like a very elaborate loophole for evading traditional monotheistic requirements.
