He certainly can't seem to help himself.

He is part shrewd pol, part bug-eyed lunatic. A very dangerous combination; especially when armed and provided with a staff of armed deputies.

I can't believe this guy isn't in prison yet. He's totally out of control.

He probably sleeps with an automatic under his pillow. His last words will be: "You'll never take me alive, G-Man".

This is the fundamental problem with this new breed of conservatives. They believe that they are right and that the rules of law can be suspended based on their understanding of justice and freedom.

Oh, they are quite certain that they are in the right. They have appointed themselves sole arbiters of the Constitution, common law and morality. Many of them converse directly with a deity and consider themselves to be on a "Mission from God"

There is nothing shrewd about openly defying the feds after SCOTUS has spoken. This is the choice of an anarchist, not an officer of the law.

Joe has chosen to go down in flames and take whoever and whatever he can down with him. He's a powerful, wild-eyed fanatic who is convinced that the federal government is the root of all evil. As this whack supremacist talks with god on a two-way radio, the coming weeks will indeed be very entertaining scary.

What?! You don't believe in dangerous fun? Arpaio certainly does.

re: #7 EiMitch

I think he is speaking to a specific audience and that his positions are political rallying points for a certain brand of extremists, of which there are a great many in this country. He does not want to be respected by the majority. He wants to be revered by a specific minority. He knows he will eventually be removed from office, or force to resign. It's what happens afterwards that will be really interesting.
