I thought I was going to piss my pants laughing when Hannity accused Juan of trying to spin this away, you talk about the pot calling kettle.

2 Aligarr  Wed, Oct 3, 2012 6:00:15am

Juan bought into it , and now he's got to kiss Hannity's butt .

That black guy on Sean Hannity's side before Juan Williams - always on FOX. Why will I get in trouble calling him an Uncle Tom? I got hela lots of downdings for calling a right wing black man who said Obama's re-election loss would cause black race riots an Uncle Tom.

Can you help me out with why that is a bad thing for me to say?

Because it's fucking racist. How hard is that to understand?

If a black man is pushing a line right out of the KKK view of the world and he is called an Uncle Tom for being in league with KKK like racism that is also racism to call him Uncle Tom?

I thought Uncle Tom was a term from the black power movement where "uncle tom" is synonymous with "sellout" to those blacks that want to deprive blacks of their rights because they have it good with "the man".

Yes. It is also racism.

Does it matter where it came from? Does that absolve it from being racist?

I will take your word for it. But I did not know how else to classify Thomas Sowell, a black man, saying that his own demographic would rise up and race riot against whites if Obama loses.

That is right out of some KKK fantasy scenario. So how else should I have classified it beyond nuts? Because it was more than just crazy talk.

Thomas Sowell - Race Riots if Obama Loses (I don't understand why a black man - right wing or left wing) would say such a racist affirming thing.

Because Uncle Tom privilege are like N-Word privilege. Who says it in what context matters.

You, here and now, because you're indignant, do not meet the criterion.

If you want a more succinct explanation, go ask the guy who runs Yo, Is This Racist?

If you don't want to be racist about it, you can call him stupid, you can even call him racist. If you do want be racist about it, I suggest you do it elsewhere, or be prepared for a barrage of downdings, and maybe a banning.

Here's the link. I think a few hours of reading there might do Destro some good.

That totally makes sense it's like the N word. It only is to be used by people who are from that culture and background and not for outsiders. Makes sense and I agree upon reflection. I will delete/withdraw my above comment. Thanks for answering!

I like the link but I hope you are not implying I am 'racist' and thus in need of some sort of racial sensitivity training. Whatever faults I have, racism is not one of them.

You're not racist. You just need to check your privilege.

You don't get to tell black people how to be proper black people, hence you don't get to hand out the verdict of Uncle Tom. For that matter, it's really not a whole lot better when "authenticity" is attacked internal to a culture or ethnic group.

You can still call Thomas Sowell racist and dumb.

In hindsight I agree. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me and allowing me to reflect on this.

There is no conversation that gets better because that term has been injected into it. It is the opposite of meaningful conversation.
