To be fair, it's not really frostbite temps--just a little hypothermic. These are (ex) Romney fans, so it's more like voluntary commitment.

Why would it be a "security concern" to allow people to leave?

Don't want people to deliver an infernal device and bug out. If there's an unattended bag on El Al, everyone is arriving late.

It might be that many of the hypothermic Romney crowd at his rally were GOP volunteers given the chance as a reward.

I do wonder if any of these folks are going to change their vote on account of being trapped in the cold by their candidate.

re: #10 Aligarr

That is a foolish comment since reporters from the NYT and USAToday were reporting their own observations.

But I do think it might be a bit unfair to blame Mitt.

Apparently this was confined to the area behind the stage, where the Secret Service had security concerns.
There are plenty of reasons to criticize Mr. Romney without adding spurious charges like this. Stick to substance, please!

Doesn't matter. In this country one can leave anywhere at will, short of opening an airplane door in the air.

I'll wait for the full statements and crosscheck the info , thank you very much .
BTW , I despise Romney , and have already early voted for Obama, but I will not develop a republican mindset of swallowing a story without crosschecking .
