Their conclusions are pretty intuitive if you think about it, still it is nice to see it actually codified and quantified rather than wondering if that intuitive gut assessment is itself a result of Dunning-Kruger.

I wouldn't confuse intuition with Dunning-Kruger -- intuition is instinct, a gestalt of subconscious and things not consciously reasoned out that can often be correct (& sometimes incorrect.) The Dunning-Kruger effect is being highly incompetent at reason (or a thing) and not knowing it.At the extreme it's concluding that you are great at rational thinking [or whatever] when you don't understand the least concept about it.

I am at the 90th percentile.

But I'm not saying at what.

Why can't you be incompetent at intuition because of your skewed general beliefs and not know that you are? I contend that intuition is also subject to this effect.

Don't wingnuts often argue points based on their "common sense" and "gut feelings" overruling verified numbers and facts?

Because intuition is an unconscious, somewhat emotionally based, thought process and D&K is an overrating of conscious reasoning.

Or D&K is fooling yourself into thinking you've gone through conscious reasoning, when really you're just going with your instinct and backfilling rationales for it.

I have had a lot of men friends and acquaintances in my life and also found myself a councilor of such to many.

One thing I always found interesting was there were a lot of men who had this belief that women were somehow more shrewd than men in many areas. Which in turn made some men believe they were sneaky or couldn't be trusted.

For just one example, often times men I spoke with were surprised how women found out they were cheating when they were so sure they had covered their tracks so well. Yet So many men I spoke with were clueless for YEARS about their wives or girlfriends infidelities. Or they would talk with suspicion and a little reverence how in general women just seemed smarter than men. I would always tell them women are in general no 'smarter' or more intelligent than men and neither do they have some secret agenda to undermine men. It's simply men tend to overestimate themselves and underestimate others whereas women tend to underestimate themselves while NEVER underestimating anyone else.

Now I could also go into Low context and high context people as well which has been studied from one culture to another-and which I believe also could be ascribed to cultural differences between men and women-but I won't.

I do not mean this as a insult to men at all. Nor do I think this is the case for all men.
